Libby Montana has more woes with Asbestos
by Jim on Sep.26, 2008, under Health Tips For Everyone
Mesothelioma concerns have skyrocketed in my neighboring town, Libby Montana. The local vermiculite mine has caused more Mesothelioma cases than anywhere in the U.S. and has caused more deaths than anywhere else. Located some 50 miles from my hometown of Heron Mt., these folks are still my neighbors. My mom and sister moved out of that town years ago, I am glad for them because they and the children of my sister do not need that health risk. They had lived in the Flathead for many years and my mom took a state job there in Libby. I sure hope the problem can be repaired, the town used to be a really good place to live.
So many businesses have moved out or flat closed up and many homes are for sale. It is a very beautiful area and a shame something like this has caused this many problems. “A River Runs Through It” was filmed on the river there and anybody who has seen the film, knows the beauty of some of the area.
I hope a solution will be coming soon for these folks, my neighbors.
